Hyderabad: A late-night ATM robbery attempt in Nizamabad’s Chandrasekhar Colony was thwarted on Monday, thanks to a timely police patrol. The attempted theft occurred shortly after midnight.
Police said a group of unidentified men arrived in a Maruti van and began cutting the ATM machine with a gas cutter. Before they could access the cash, a patrolling team drove by. Startled, the suspects fled in their vehicle.
Soon after, officers spotted the van speeding toward Basara in Nirmal district. Police alerted teams across the region. Sensing the chase, the gang abandoned their van near Pald village and escaped into nearby fields.
Officers recovered the Maruti van and gas cutting tools. The vehicle’s Maharashtra registration plate raised suspicions of the gang’s inter-state links.
Investigators are scanning CCTV footage and collecting forensic evidence to track down the culprits.
