CM Revanth Reddy directs Congress to prioritise winnability in Telangana municipal polls

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held a virtual strategy meeting from the United States late Friday to shape the Telangana municipal polls strategy for the Congress party.

He was joined by TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natrajan, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, Parliament in-charges, DCC presidents, and senior party leaders.

Revanth Reddy instructed leaders to allot B-forms strictly based on a candidate’s winnability. He strongly opposed distributing tickets based on personal relationships. Referring to Jubilee Hills and Cantonment bypolls, he said the party had proven that teamwork delivers results.

Telangana municipal polls strategy stresses unity, discipline, and readiness

Calling for urgency, the Chief Minister reminded leaders that every division and ward holds strategic importance. He told them to treat the municipal elections as a serious contest, not a formality.

He urged the Congress ranks to field candidates who could effectively counter BRS and BJP rivals. Additionally, he warned them to prevent rebel entries by enforcing internal coordination.

Revanth cautioned against announcing chairperson and mayoral candidates prematurely. He said leadership positions must reflect social dynamics and political realities.

During the meeting, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud shared detailed internal survey data. Revanth Reddy set a target of winning 90% of the seats and laid out specific measures to reduce internal dissent. He plans to return to Telangana and begin campaigning from February 3.
