Revanth Reddy slams Modi over Pakistan policy, hails Indira Gandhi’s legacy

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, accusing him of showing weakness in the wake of the Pahalgam incident and failing to assert India’s strategic interests.

Speaking at a Congress-organised Jai Hind Yatra in Hyderabad’s Qutubullapur constituency, Revanth Reddy alleged that Modi had effectively “mortgaged India’s sovereignty” to former US President Donald Trump by calling off military operations against Pakistan prematurely.

“All parties, including the Congress, stood behind the Centre after the Pahalgam attack. We demanded that Pakistan be wiped off the global map,” Revanth said, addressing party workers at a public meeting following the rally. The yatra, led by TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, began at VNR Vigyan Jyoti Engineering College and culminated at KGR Convention Centre.

Drawing comparisons to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s resolute leadership during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Revanth hailed her for refusing American mediation and for decisively bifurcating Pakistan. “Indira Gandhi didn’t bow down to pressure she delivered a historic blow to the enemy. That’s the strength we need today,” he said.

The Chief Minister questioned the BJP’s decision to end military operations just four days after India launched strikes against Pakistan, allegedly under Trump’s influence. “Why didn’t the Modi government call an all-party meeting before announcing a ceasefire? National security isn’t the BJP’s private agenda,” he remarked.

Taking a dig at BJP’s symbolic gestures, Revanth dismissed the party’s Tiranga rallies as hollow theatrics. “This isn’t a time for flag-waving optics. The Congress is holding the Jai Hind Yatra to restore confidence in our armed forces, who were let down by this government,” he said.

Calling Narendra Modi a “spent force”, Revanth urged Congress workers not to rest until Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister. “The country needs courageous leadership. Rahul Gandhi is ready for the responsibility. Let’s make it happen,” he declared.
