Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his government’s commitment to restoring the past glory of the handloom sector and supporting weaver families across Telangana.
On the occasion of National Handloom Day, observed on August 7, the Chief Minister extended greetings to all handloom weavers and emphasised the sector’s importance on par with agriculture. “Just as we prioritize farmers’ welfare, we are equally committed to uplifting weavers,” he said.
Loan waivers, welfare schemes launched for weavers’ development
Revanth Reddy highlighted that the government has cleared long-pending dues and waived loans up to ₹1 lakh for handloom workers. He said the state is implementing key initiatives for the comprehensive development of the sector.
These include Telangana Cheneta Abhaya Hastham, Telangana Nethanna Podupu, Nethanna Bima, and Telangana Nethannaku Bharosa—schemes designed to provide financial security, savings support, and insurance coverage to handloom families.
