Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is gearing up for yet another round of discussions in Delhi, as the dust refuses to settle over the allocation of portfolios to his freshly inducted ministers. Early on Monday morning, Reddy will arrive at Shamshabad International Airport and board his flight to the capital, determined to end the stalemate with the Congress high command.
The latest trip comes on the heels of Sunday’s swearing-in ceremony, where Chennoor MLA Vivek Venkata Swamy, Dharmapuri MLA Adluri Laxman Kumar, and Makthal MLA Vakiti Sunitha Laxma Reddy took oath as cabinet ministers. But the real battle lies ahead: who gets which ministry?
Party insiders reveal that Revanth Reddy’s mission in Delhi centres on finalising portfolios for his new team, a process that has fuelled intense debate within party circles. At present, the Chief Minister himself handles key departments including Municipal Administration, Urban Development, Home, Education, and Minority Affairs. Whether he intends to hold on to those or distribute them among his new colleagues remains a hot topic of speculation.
Meanwhile, Reddy recently met with Meenakshi Natarajan, the Congress’s Telangana affairs in-charge, and PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud to iron out issues related to party posts. Many expect some clarity on those appointments during this trip as well, though nothing is certain yet.
The political grapevine is abuzz with questions over whether the new ministers will simply inherit the CM’s existing portfolios or whether existing ministers might be asked to cede ground. For now, all eyes are on Delhi, where Reddy hopes to secure the nod that has eluded him so far.
