Hyderabad: Drunk driving checks conducted across Telangana during New Year celebrations led to the detection of a record-high alcohol reading in Hanamkonda, police said.
As part of intensified enforcement to curb drunk driving, police carried out inspections across the state. During one such check in Hanamkonda, officers stopped a motorist and administered a breath analyser test.
The test recorded an alcohol level of 432, which startled officers on duty. Police confirmed that this was the highest drunk driving reading reported anywhere in the state during 2025.

Police officials said they strengthened the enforcement to prevent accidents during New Year’s festivities. The checks aimed to discourage motorists from driving after consuming alcohol.
Following the detection, police initiated legal action against the offender in accordance with the law. Officials said such violations posed a serious risk to public safety.
Meanwhile, the checks continued across Telangana through the night. Police reiterated that strict enforcement would remain in place during festivals and major events.
Officials added that the Hanamkonda incident became a major talking point due to the unusually high reading. Police urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and avoid drunk driving.
