Rangareddy finalises municipal ward reservations for six ULBs

Hyderabad: Rangareddy district authorities have finalised municipal ward reservations for six urban local bodies ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, District Collector C. Narayana Reddy said on Saturday.

The process followed State Election Commission (SEC) guidelines and took place in the presence of representatives from recognised political parties. The affected municipalities are Ameenpur, Chevella, Ibrahimpatnam, Moinabad, Shadnagar, and Shankarpally.

Over 60 ward seats across six ULBs reserved for women

The reservation process took place at the Integrated District Offices Complex. Officials allocated seats for all 126 wards—15 in Ameenpur, 18 in Chevella, 24 in Ibrahimpatnam, 26 in Moinabad, 28 in Shadnagar, and 15 in Shankarpally.

Out of these, 62 wards went to women candidates under various categories. Ameenpur received seven such wards, Chevella nine, Ibrahimpatnam 12, Moinabad 13, Shadnagar 14, and Shankarpally seven.

Officials conducted the exercise transparently, recording the entire process on video. The allotments covered Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), Backward Classes (BC), and Unreserved categories, each with both general and women-specific designations.

Collector Narayana Reddy stated that the process adhered strictly to SEC norms and the Delimitation Commission’s instructions. He added that the district administration will now forward the final list to the SEC and the state government.

Additional Collector Srinivas, ZP CEO Krishna Reddy, DPO Suresh Mohan, and PD MEPMA Venkata Narayana oversaw the proceedings.

Leaders from CPI, CPI(M), INC, BRS, and BJP attended the session. Participants included Palamakula Jangayya, Boda Samuel, Challa Narasimha Reddy, Madupu Venugopal, Nittu Jagadeeshwar, Vijay Kumar, and Devender Reddy.
