Manu Singhvi, Narender Reddy file Rajya Sabha nominations from Telangana

Hyderabad: Congress candidates Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vem Narender Reddy filed Rajya Sabha nominations from Telangana on Thursday at the State Assembly.

They submitted nomination papers to Returning Officer Upender Reddy. Legislative Affairs Minister Sridhar Babu led the filing process.

Several ministers, MLAs, MLCs and MPs attended the programme held at the Assembly premises.

The Election Commission earlier issued a notification to fill two Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana.

The Congress leadership renominated sitting MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi for one of the seats.

Meanwhile, the party fielded Vem Narender Reddy, a close associate of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, for the second seat.

Earlier in the day, the Congress high command officially announced both candidates.

Speaking to reporters after filing nominations, Vem Narender Reddy thanked the party leadership for giving him the opportunity.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi also thanked the Congress high command for giving him a second term. He said he would work for Telangana’s development.
