Elderly couple alleges eviction, house demolition by daughter-in-law in Rajapur

Hyderabad: A disturbing case of alleged property abuse has emerged from Rajapur village in Telangana’s Karimnagar district, where an elderly couple accused their daughter-in-law and grandson of forcibly evicting them and demolishing their house.

The couple, Komuraiah and Kanakamma, approached the local police alleging that they were thrown out onto the street by their late son’s wife, Lakshmi, and her son, Uday. According to their complaint, Lakshmi recently received approval under the Indiramma Housing Scheme but chose not to build on her allotted plot.

Instead, she and her son allegedly demolished the house where the elderly couple was living and took control of the property.

Komuraiah and Kanakamma said they have three sons. The eldest is deceased, and the remaining two live in Hyderabad. They claimed to have already divided their property, which includes one house and four guntas of open land, equally among the three sons.

The affected couple told police this was not the first time they had approached authorities with a complaint. They claimed that an earlier plea was ignored.

Police have now registered a case and begun an investigation.
