Railway ministers inspect ₹521 cr Kazipet manufacturing unit, project due 2026

Hyderabad: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday visited the under-construction Railway Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet, inspecting progress on the ₹521 crore project expected to be completed by end-2026.

The ministers were accompanied by South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, Secunderabad Divisional Railway Manager Bhartesh Kumar Jain, and other senior officials. Civil construction is slated to finish by December 2025.

Vaishnaw told reporters that the unit, equipped with advanced technology, is designed to flexibly manufacture coaches, engines, and metro trains. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and said the unit will position India as a major hub for railway manufacturing and exports.

Kishan Reddy thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vaishnaw, calling the project a “long-cherished dream” of Telangana residents. He said the facility will generate direct and indirect employment for around 3,000 people.

Reddy added that 40 railway stations in Telangana are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, including Warangal, which was recently inaugurated. He noted that Telangana’s rail network is undergoing rapid transformation through electrification, Vande Bharat trains, and station upgrades.

Earlier, the ministers inspected construction and safety measures at the project site.
