HYDERABAD: BJP leader Raghunandan Rao launched a sharp attack on BRS leader K. T. Rama Rao over his recent comments on the protection of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) land, accusing him of making “sugar-coated statements” and distorting facts.
“Now KTR is claiming they protected HCU land and that their leader fought for it. These are nothing but white lies,” Raghunandan Rao said.
He questioned why then-Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao allotted 134 acres of HCU land to TNGOs (Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers) during the BRS regime. He demanded clarity on this controversial decision, asking whether it aligned with the interests of the university or the public.
Further, Raghunandan Rao raised concerns over the 400 acres of disputed land, questioning why the government failed to construct a compound wall around the remaining 1,785 acres over a span of ten years if it was serious about protecting the land.
“Instead of boasting, they should explain why basic protective measures like boundary walls were never taken despite having a decade in power,” he said.
