Ponnam Prabhakar urges voters to back Congress in Husnabad

Hyderabad: Telangana minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Saturday urged voters to back the Congress in the Husnabad municipal elections. He said the party would speed up development if its candidates secured a clear mandate.

As part of the campaign, Prabhakar toured Wards 3, 4, 15 and 16 in Husnabad town of Siddipet district. During door-to-door outreach and street meetings, he explained government welfare schemes. He also highlighted ongoing development works. Through these interactions, he appealed to residents to vote for Congress candidates to strengthen municipal governance.

While addressing local gatherings, Prabhakar said voters had once elected him as an MP for his role in the Telangana statehood movement. According to him, the Chief Minister continued to acknowledge that contribution. At the same time, he criticised political opponents for visiting Husnabad without understanding local issues. He further warned rivals against using disrespectful language and said he would firmly oppose such attempts.

Minister challenges rivals, outlines Husnabad development roadmap

Calling for an open debate, Prabhakar challenged opponents to discuss Husnabad’s development record. He said the Congress aimed to develop the town beyond Siddipet and Warangal. Recalling the past, he said the Congress government established Satavahana University a decade ago. Later, he added that engineering and law colleges had followed.

Criticising earlier decisions, Prabhakar said authorities detached Husnabad from Karimnagar against public sentiment. He noted that the move merged the town with Siddipet. However, he added that the Congress had promised to restore Husnabad’s link with Karimnagar. He asserted that he would personally ensure it.

Referring to irrigation, Prabhakar questioned delays in completing the Gouravelli project. He said the project would turn the region fertile. Pointing to recent changes, he claimed the town had transformed over the past year. According to him, returning visitors could clearly see the difference. In conclusion, Prabhakar urged voters seeking development to elect Congress candidates in the municipal polls.
