Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar responded to Sai Eshwar death and said BCs must not become targets when provoked by others. He paid respects to Sai Eshwar along with several leaders from BC organisations in Hyderabad. The student died by suicide while demanding BC reservations, and the minister spoke to the media after offering tributes.
He stated that the Congress government acted in favour of weaker sections and aimed to protect their rights. At the same time, he urged BC communities to avoid being pushed into risky situations by external forces. He stressed that the state remained committed to providing 42 per cent reservations for BCs.
Minister reiterates stand after Sai Eshwar death
Ponnam Prabhakar said he would soon meet Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to ensure support for the family of Sai Eshwar. He said the government would extend aid from the official side. He added that efforts for a 42 per cent BC quota were underway at the national level as well. According to him, the state was facing the Krishnamurthy case in the Supreme Court and continued its legal push to secure the reservation demand.
