HYDERABAD: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday expressed gratitude to the Governor for her cooperation in forwarding the bills related to the caste census and BC reservations. Speaking at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held at Novotel, he stated that the BC reservation bill has now reached the President for assent.
He mentioned that the Supreme Court had recently directed that a decision on the matter be taken within two months and expressed confidence that the verdict would be favourable. He also recalled that the bill on BC reservations was passed unanimously by all political parties in the state legislature.
The Minister informed the gathering that the caste census survey was conducted with the participation of one lakh government employees and that the data was collected transparently without any legal complications.
He urged party leaders to take this message to the people and encourage widespread discussion on the initiatives being undertaken by the Congress government. He emphasised that Telangana had become the first state in the country to implement BC reservations and SC categorisation, and noted that Rahul Gandhi had specially praised the state government for these efforts.
