Ponnam Prabhakar seeks apology from Pawan Kalyan over Telangana remark

Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar seeks apology from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for alleging that Telangana’s evil eye caused coconut trees to dry up in Konaseema. He said the remark insulted Telangana and strained the goodwill between the two states.

He stated that Telangana never blamed Andhra Pradesh when a cyclone recently caused flooding. Instead, the government treated the incident as a natural disaster. Moreover, he said linking dried trees to Telangana showed neither logic nor responsibility.

Prabhakar questioned whether such comments suited a deputy chief minister and urged the Telangana BJP leadership to respond. Furthermore, he said the Andhra Pradesh chief minister should examine the issue. He explained that the BJP–Jana Sena alliance carried a duty to protect harmony between both states.

Later, he recalled that Husnabad flooded when a cyclone hit Andhra Pradesh. During that event, Telangana did not blame its neighbour. According to him, accusing Telangana of casting an evil influence was baseless and offensive.

Consequently, Prabhakar demanded that Pawan Kalyan withdraw his statement and apologise to Telangana. He urged him to avoid discriminatory comments in future. He also said both states must grow together and insisted that such remarks should not come from anyone in high office.
