Hyderabad: State Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Sunday said the Congress-led government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had fulfilled its electoral promises. They gave equal priority to development and welfare. He claimed Telangana had emerged as a benchmark for governance across India.
Speaking to reporters, the Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister said the Congress government was now entering its third year in power. “In just two years, we achieved more than what previous governments could not in a decade,” he noted. Telangana, he emphasized, was handed to us in financial distress. However, he stated, "we have pushed it back onto the path of growth.”
Minister cites public support and key reforms
Reddy said the public had endorsed the government’s performance, citing victories in the Cantonment and Jubilee Hills by-elections as clear indicators. “These results prove people are satisfied with the Congress rule,” he said. He pointed to the opposition’s attempt to project the elections as a referendum.
He also credited the Revanth Reddy-led administration with restoring order in governance and launching transformative schemes. “We are implementing development and welfare models unseen before. The fine rice scheme and Indiramma housing scheme have become national references,” he said.
Reddy stated that four out of the six guarantees made during the elections had already been implemented. Meanwhile, the remaining two had been partially rolled out due to financial constraints. “Despite not promising them in the manifesto, several additional welfare schemes have also been introduced,” he added.
The minister emphasised that Telangana had topped national charts in economic growth. Moreover, it was actively pursuing its ‘Telangana Rising 2047 Vision’. The goal, he said, was to turn Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy by 2035 and triple that by 2047.
He asserted that the government had taken up extensive reforms in the revenue, housing, and survey departments. “Our immediate aim is to resolve land-related issues and provide Indiramma houses to every eligible citizen. Many of these steps are already underway,” he said.
Reddy concluded that Telangana had become a role model for transparent governance and modern development. It also addressed the aspirations of low-income communities. He described the state’s progress as historic and globally competitive.
