Hyderabad: Political tension escalated in Jubilee Hills on Thursday after dramatic turns over police permission for BJP leader Bandi Sanjay’s public meeting at Borabanda. Police finally granted approval for the meeting at Borabanda Site-3 by evening, issuing formal orders after earlier revoking permission.
Police clear Bandi Sanjay’s Borabanda meeting after initial cancellation
Soon after the permission was reinstated, heavy deployment of central security forces began at the meeting venue. The last-minute police reversal triggered strong reactions from BJP leaders, who accused the Congress government of pressuring the police.
Party members criticised officials for “first granting, then cancelling permission,” calling it a politically motivated move. They alleged that the police had bowed to government pressure and were acting unfairly during the by-election period.
Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay urged party workers to gather in large numbers for the evening meeting at Borabanda. He said the BJP would go ahead with the event as planned and warned against any attempts to disrupt it.
Bandi Sanjay calls for fair conduct by Election Commission
Speaking to media, Bandi Sanjay said the Election Commission must act impartially during the ongoing campaign. He added that the police had a responsibility to ensure smooth conduct of the meeting without any obstacles.
The controversy over the permission added a sharp political edge to the Jubilee Hills by-election, with BJP leaders vowing to continue their campaign despite what they termed “administrative hurdles.”
