Hyderabad: Police commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda agreed to implement unified traffic rules and adopt joint measures against criminals to strengthen law enforcement across Telangana.
The decision was taken during a coordination meeting held at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) in Banjara Hills. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu, and senior officers attended the meeting.
The commissioners reviewed city security, traffic congestion, and criminal movement. They also resolved to function as a single force to ensure uniform enforcement across commissionerate limits.
Unified traffic rules to cover enforcement and crime control
The commissioners decided to fix a common timing for the “no entry” of heavy vehicles in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. They also agreed to conduct drunk-and-drive checks simultaneously across the twin cities.
Police prepared a joint action plan against rowdy-sheeters and anti-social elements. The meeting also resolved to regulate private travel buses and strengthen coordination between traffic and law-and-order wings.
Officials urged citizens to follow traffic rules strictly and drive responsibly to prevent accidents. They stressed that road safety remained a shared responsibility and warned against over-speeding, wrong-route driving, signal jumping, and mobile phone use while driving.
The commissioners advised motorists not to drive without valid licences. They also instructed two-wheeler riders and pillion riders to wear helmets without exception. Senior officers said police personnel must lead by example by strictly following traffic rules.
