Police bust inter-state human trafficking gang, two newborns rescued

Hyderabad: Miyapur police, along with the Special Operations Team (SOT) Shamshabad, busted an inter-state human trafficking gang operating from Hyderabad. They rescued two newborn infants on Wednesday.

Following specific intelligence, police teams arrested 11 accused from Miyapur and other parts of the city. The arrests came while the accused were attempting to sell the newborns illegally. An IVF agent figured among those taken into custody.

Police said the inter-state human trafficking gang targeted economically vulnerable families across several States. The accused persuaded parents to part with their newborns for money. Later, they sold the infants to affluent, childless couples for large sums through a structured network.

Officials said the prime accused included an IVF agent and a habitual offender involved in multiple cases across Cyberabad, Rachakonda, and Hyderabad. In this case, middlemen sourced one infant from Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Another infant was sourced from Ramanpet in Siddipet district.
