Phone tapping case: SIT completes questioning of KCR

Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Sunday evening completed the questioning of BRS chief and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao in the phone tapping case after an interrogation that lasted nearly five hours at his Nandinagar residence in Hyderabad.

SIT officials questioned KCR for four hours and 50 minutes in a room on the second floor of the residence. The team examined him based on statements given by the accused persons in the case and recorded his version in detail.

The questioning was led by Madhapur DCP Rithiraj, along with IPS officers Vijay Kumar and Narayan Reddy. Additional SPs Aravind Kumar and KS Rao were also part of the SIT team that questioned the former chief minister.

Phone tapping case: protests erupt during SIT questioning

SIT officials recorded all statements made by KCR during the interrogation. The questioning followed similar SIT inquiries of former minister Harish Rao last week and BRS working president K T Rama Rao thereafter. Meanwhile, political circles remained abuzz over who would receive the next SIT notice.

From the time the SIT began questioning KCR, BRS cadres staged protests across Telangana. In Hyderabad, tense situations repeatedly surfaced near Telangana Bhavan, where party workers raised slogans against the government. Protesters attempted to march towards the chief minister’s residence, prompting police to tighten security around the residence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

While the SIT questioned KCR at Nandinagar, BRS leaders and cadres also launched protests at Telangana Bhavan. When they tried to proceed towards KCR’s residence, police stopped them, leading to brief confrontations at several points.

After the SIT completed the questioning, senior BRS leaders, including KTR, Harish Rao, RS Praveen Kumar, party MLAs, MLCs, and a large number of workers, reached the Nandinagar residence. KCR greeted supporters who had been waiting since morning and later left for his Erravalli farmhouse.
