Outdoor media protest at GHMC over new ad policy demand

Hyderabad: Outdoor media protest erupted at the GHMC headquarters in Liberty on Friday as members of the Telangana Outdoor Media Owners Association demanded a new advertisement policy and permission for roof-top hoardings.

Association State President Ifrikar and General Secretary Ramesh alleged that three major advertising agencies were dominating operations within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). They claimed this dominance sidelined smaller agencies.

The protestors attempted to enter the GHMC office during the dharna. However, police intervened and prevented them from moving inside. A brief scuffle followed before authorities brought the situation under control. Subsequently, the association called off the protest.

Leaders alleged that the government had failed to fulfil pre-election promises, including the repeal of GO No. 88. They said the present system benefited a few large agencies. As a result, hundreds of small agencies and thousands of dependent families faced financial distress.

Leaders press demands during Outdoor media protest

During the Outdoor media protest, association leaders appealed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to grant them an opportunity to present their grievances. They sought a fair and transparent advertising policy within GHMC limits.

Association Vice President Tirupati Rao, Assistant Secretary Madhu and Treasurer Vishnuvardhan participated in the agitation. Leaders Rama Swamy, Mahesh Raju, Raghu, Ramam Janeyulu, Nagu, Devavas, Mallikarjun and Srinivas were also present.
