HYDERABAD: Osmania University has officially banned agitations, dharnas, and demonstrations within its departments, colleges, centres, and administrative buildings. The university administration stated that such activities have been disrupting academic and administrative functions, leading to delays and raising security concerns.
In a recent circular, the university emphasized that unauthorized entry into university buildings, staging protests, and using offensive language against staff are strictly prohibited. Violators will face serious legal consequences. The administration encourages students with genuine grievances to follow formal channels by approaching relevant institutional authorities or seeking an appointment with the Registrar.
This decision has sparked political backlash. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao criticized the ban, labeling it a direct attack on democracy. He accused the Telangana Congress government of hypocrisy, recalling their election promise to uphold democratic rights, including the right to protest. Rama Rao warned that suppressing student voices could lead to significant consequences for the government.
