Hyderabad: The North East Connect film festival will feature 12 regional films, including eight from the North Eastern states and four in Telugu, at Hyderabad’s IMAX Theatre on November 21 and 22.
The screenings, scheduled in screens 4 and 5, are part of the “North East Connect – A Techno Cultural Festival 2025.” Telangana State Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) is coordinating the event. VC&MD Ch. Priyanka, who inspected the venue on Tuesday, confirmed the arrangements.
Regional cinema to take centre stage
The Northeast films include Yawing (Tripuri), Tara: The Lost Star (Sikkim, Nepali), Kooki (Hindi), Onaatah: Of the Earth (Meghalaya, Khasi), Anur, Boomba Ride, Rador, Pakhi (Assamese), and Eikhogi Yum (Manipuri).
In addition, the Telugu line-up features Balagam, Naa Bangaru Thalli, Pottel, and Mallesham. The durations range from 1 hour 16 minutes to 2 hours 42 minutes, offering a varied cinematic experience.
Event preparation and official oversight
Ch. Priyanka led the review of arrangements at IMAX, joined by officials from I&PR and theatre management. She instructed them to ensure seamless screenings and comfortable seating for all guests.
Those present during the inspection included LLR Kishore Babu (Director, I&PR), Radha Kishan (CIE), Yasa Venkateswarlu (Deputy Director), and representatives from Qube, UFO, and the theatre’s operations team.
The festival seeks to bring together films from the Northeast and Telangana, offering viewers a rare opportunity to explore India’s regional stories. Film directors and other prominent figures from the industry will also participate.
Invitation to Hyderabad audiences
VC&MD Ch. Priyanka invited Hyderabad residents to attend the screenings and engage with the country’s diverse cultural heritage. She emphasised that cinema offers a unique bridge across regions and serves as a powerful expression of India’s unity in diversity.
