Hyderabad: NIMS has extended its outpatient (OP) registration hours until 2 pm to help patients access medical care more easily. Previously, the hospital registered patients between 8 am and 11 am. The new schedule gives them three extra hours. In particular, it offers greater convenience to patients travelling from distant areas.
The extended NIMS OP registration window will also keep doctors available until the evening. As a result, patients will have more time to register and consult specialists. The change aims to ease difficulties for people who cannot reach the hospital during the earlier morning hours.
NIMS OP registration allows same-day medical tests
Hospital authorities have also taken steps to reduce delays in diagnostic tests and specialist consultations. Under the new arrangements, staff will conduct all medical tests except MRI scans on the day patients register for OP services.
Moreover, the hospital expects to provide most test reports within one or two hours. Patients can then show the results to their doctors on the same day. This arrangement will help them proceed with treatment without making another visit just to submit reports.
The revised system aims to cut waiting times for tests and medical consultations. Meanwhile, the longer NIMS OP registration hours provide more flexibility for patients arriving from outside Hyderabad. The hospital now accepts OP registrations from 8 am to 2 pm, while MRI scans remain outside the same-day testing facility.
