Nehru Zoo Park earns ISO 9001:2015 certification for sixth year

Hyderabad: Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad has secured ISO 9001:2015 certification for the sixth consecutive year, marking a milestone in quality management and animal care. Telangana Forest Minister Konda Surekha presented the certificate on Tuesday, commending the zoo’s sustained performance and operational excellence.

Established in 1963, Nehru Zoo Park is one of India’s largest zoological parks, attracting nearly 3 million visitors annually. It holds the distinction of being the first zoo in the country to introduce a Safari Park within its campus. The facility houses 2,184 animals across 198 species and has achieved notable success in conservation breeding of species like the Mugger Crocodile, Indian Mouse Deer, and Long-billed Vulture.

Beyond the ISO 9001:2015 standard for quality management, the zoo also holds ISO 14001 certification for environmental practices. It has earned a prestigious 5-star rating for excellence in animal care, enclosure design, veterinary services, and visitor amenities.

Minister Surekha stated that these recognitions strengthen public confidence in the zoo and pave the way for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships and international collaborations. She praised the zoo’s role in education, conservation, and sustainable tourism.
