Narsingi road realignment: Residents oppose 100-foot road plan

Hyderabad: Narsingi residents opposed the proposed 100-foot master plan road realignment, claiming it could affect their properties and lead to the demolition of a pre-school. BRS Legislature Party (BRSLP) Deputy Leader Harish Rao, former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and BRS MLA Sudhir Reddy met the affected residents and heard their grievances.

Residents said the earlier road alignment avoided the demolition of houses. However, they alleged that authorities later changed the route and marked their school for removal. They said they had built the institution through years of hard work.

Prasannita Rao, who runs a pre-school in the area, said the revised plan threatened her institution. She alleged that officials intended to demolish her school to provide road access to an international school linked to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s daughter.

Narsingi road realignment raises concerns over school site

Rao said she received building permission in June 2024 and had run the pre-school for two years. However, officials had now marked the premises for removal. The school stands along a 60-foot road.

She also questioned the use of government land at the end of the proposed road. Residents had heard that authorities recently auctioned the land at a low price. They also heard that a school would come up there. However, Rao said she did not have confirmed information about its ownership.

Rao said local residents had been told that an international school would come up on the site. She estimated its extent at more than two-and-a-half acres.

She also referred to plans for a 54-storey building and other projects in the area. According to her, these proposed developments could explain the multiple bends in the 100-foot road alignment.

During the meeting, Harish Rao, Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sudhir Reddy heard residents’ objections to the proposed Narsingi road realignment. Residents raised concerns about the possible loss of their properties and school.
