Habitual thief targeting lone women arrested in Narkatpally

Hyderabad: Police in Narkatpally arrested a man accused of targeting lone women and stealing gold ornaments and two-wheelers to fund his lifestyle. Nalgonda DSP Shivaram Reddy shared details of the case during a media briefing at the Narkatpally police station on Saturday.

The accused, Boluguri Shiva, an auto driver from Pulipalupula village in Munugodu mandal, allegedly tried to snatch a gold chain from Uppala Sunitha near her farmland in Dasariguda village on October 18.

According to police, Shiva approached Sunitha on a bike and attempted to lure her with false talk before trying to grab the gold from her neck. However, she resisted and raised an alarm. Two bystanders, Polagani Saidulu and Uppala Mohan Reddy, rushed to the spot and caught him.

Acting on Sunitha’s complaint, SI D. Kranthi Kumar registered a case. Under the direction of SP Sharath Chandra Pawar, CI K. Nagaraju led the investigation.

During questioning, Shiva admitted to multiple thefts driven by his addiction to nightlife. He confessed to stealing from villages in Nalgonda Rural, Chityal, Munugodu, and Narkatpally mandals, including during festivals and fairs.

Police recovered 9.5 tolas of gold and two stolen bikes from him, worth over ₹15 lakh. SP Sharath Chandra commended the investigating team including CI Nagaraju, SI Kranthi Kumar, ASI Anjaneyulu, and constables Jawahar, Ramesh, Johnny Pasha, Satyanarayana, Giribabu, Krishna, and Suresh Goud.
