HYDERABAD: Jagityal MLA Sanjay Kumar of criticised former MLC Jeevan Reddy, questioning whether he had not once welcomed BRS leaders into the party. He asked whether Jeevan Reddy was applying one standard to himself and another to others.
Sanjay Kumar said the Congress government was implementing the fine rice scheme to benefit the poor and that public representatives should eat at the homes of beneficiaries to dispel misconceptions about the programme. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy had also encouraged MLAs to take part in this outreach.
In this context, Sanjay Kumar visited the home of a ration card holder in his constituency and dined there. His participation while donning a Congress scarf drew attention.
Speaking to the media afterwards, he launched a sharp attack on Jeevan Reddy. Sanjay Kumar stated that he was cooperating with the government in line with the appeal made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He added that while the Chief Minister’s aim was to strengthen the government, his own priority was the development of his constituency.
Directly addressing Jeevan Reddy, he asked whether the latter had not inducted BRS leaders during his bid for the MP seat after losing the Assembly elections. “Did you not include BRS sarpanches, MPTC members, DCC chairpersons and others who supported you?” he asked. He questioned whether it was acceptable for Jeevan Reddy to bring people into the party, but wrong for others to do the same.
Sanjay Kumar clarified that he had not yet taken Congress membership but was collaborating with the Congress government for the sake of his constituency’s development. He questioned why this cooperative approach was causing such discomfort to Jeevan Reddy.
