Minor girl killed by father and stepmother in Jagityal district

Hyderabad: In a shocking case from Jagityal district, a father and his second wife allegedly killed a 15-year-old girl, Sahasra, and tried to portray the murder as a suicide. The incident occurred at Kondapur village in Endapalli mandal and has caused widespread outrage.

According to police, the accused, Venanka Ravi, married Jyothi sixteen years ago. The couple had a son and a daughter. In 2017, Jyothi died by hanging. Later, Ravi married another woman named Savitha.

Victim reportedly faced years of abuse

Relatives alleged that after her mother’s death, Sahasra was not allowed to stay with her grandmother’s family. Instead, her father, stepmother, and their relatives subjected her to continuous mental harassment. They claimed that this long period of abuse culminated in the murder.

The family members alleged that Ravi and Savitha killed Sahasra and then staged the scene to look like suicide. They also accused Ravi and his relatives of earlier involvement in Jyothi’s death.

Police launch investigation into the case

On receiving the information, Endapalli police visited the house and examined the scene. Officers sent Sahasra’s body for post-mortem examination. Based on a complaint filed by her relatives, police registered a case and began an investigation into the alleged murder.

Officials said they are verifying the sequence of events and will proceed according to the post-mortem findings.
