Hyderabad: Minister for Women and Child Welfare Seethakka expressed strong anger over the infant sale incident reported in Nalgonda district. She directed department secretary Anitha Ramachandran and director Shruti Ojha to submit a detailed report immediately.
Seethakka orders probe into Nalgonda infant sale case
Seethakka said that despite ongoing special drives against illegal adoptions and child trafficking, such incidents continued to occur, which she described as deeply distressing. She instructed officials to take the baby into state protection at once and assess the parents’ condition.
The minister warned that she would take strict action against any official found negligent in this matter. She reiterated that the government placed the highest priority on the welfare of mothers and children.
Seethakka noted that poverty and ignorance often led to such tragedies, causing great pain to society. She assured that the government would enforce tough measures to prevent such incidents in future.
Awareness drive through Anganwadi and child care centres
The minister also directed state authorities to launch awareness campaigns through Anganwadi and child care centres across Telangana. She urged the public to come forward and help prevent such injustices against children.
