Hyderabad: Telangana Minister and senior Congress leader Seethakka appeared at the Nampally court on Wednesday in connection with a 2021 case related to her participation in a hunger strike during Covid restrictions.
The case was registered on August 26, 2021, when Seethakka joined NSUI leaders at Indira Park in Hyderabad, demanding the inclusion of Covid-19 treatment under the Aarogyasri health scheme.
At the time, she also called on the then BRS government to provide free ambulance services and reimburse hospital expenses to families of Covid victims through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
However, the protest took place despite public restrictions in force under pandemic-related orders, which prohibited gatherings and agitations. A case was subsequently filed against her for violating those orders.
Her court appearance today was in relation to that case, which remains under legal consideration.
