Messi savours Hyderabadi flavours at Falaknuma and Uppal

Hyderabad: As part of his India tour, football legend Lionel Messi enjoyed a rich spread of Hyderabadi food at both Falaknuma Palace and Uppal Stadium. The menu combined classic regional favourites with fusion snacks, adding local flavour to the event.

During the tea break at Uppal Stadium on Saturday, organisers served Irani chai, wild berry cupcakes, pastries, khubani ka meetha, cookies, Osmania biscuits, coffee, chocolate milkshakes, and watermelon juice. These items reflected the city’s popular tastes.

Later, Falaknuma Palace hosted a special dinner for Messi and other players. The menu featured aloo tikki, vada with mint chutney, cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, aloo samosa, chicken sandwiches on tomato bread, mutton lukmi, fried fish, and chicken pakoras. Messi and several international teammates tried many of these items at the private gathering.

The meal showcased Hyderabad’s food heritage, blending royal recipes with modern twists to honour the Argentine icon.
