Hyderabad: Telangana moved closer to setting up a new agriculture market committee at Matkepalli in Chinthakani mandal. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka will lay the foundation stone by Sankranti, officials confirmed.
Authorities said the market would give farmers local access to crop sales. They explained that a mandal-level facility would help reduce dependence on far-off centers. Moreover, Bhatti directed both revenue and agriculture officials to finish formalities quickly so that work could begin on time.
Matkepalli agriculture market to serve Chinthakani farmers
Khammam district officials identified 17 acres of assigned land in Matkepalli limits for the project. Since the land had no cultivation, they found it suitable for construction. In addition, the Collector instructed the RDO and MRO to fast-track land allocation and complete ground-level formalities.
The new committee will change existing boundaries. Therefore, Chinthakani mandal will shift out of Khammam market limits. Similarly, Mudigonda mandal will exit from the Nelakondapalli market limits. Both mandals will now fall under the Matkepalli agriculture market.
Agriculture department officials confirmed that subsequent procedures had already begun. They said the new facility would cut transport costs for farmers and also provide fairer prices. Farmers from Chinthakani and Mudigonda would no longer need to travel long distances. As a result, local marketing is expected to ease crop sales and benefit rural producers directly.
