Mangalhat police arrest two habitual offenders in theft case

Hyderabad: Mangalhat police arrested two habitual offenders on December 19 in a gold chain theft case and recovered stolen property worth Rs 2.48 lakh.

Police identified the accused as Upadi Bolenath alias U Bholanath, 42, and Mohammed Khadeer alias Khader, 26. Mangalhat police registered the case as Crime No. 371 of 2025 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Bolenath worked as a shoe polisher and lived in Mallepally. Khadeer worked as an auto driver and lived in Asif Nagar. During the operation, Mangalhat police recovered a two-tola gold chain from the accused.

Mangalhat police uncover long criminal history

Record verification showed that both accused had extensive criminal backgrounds. Earlier, Bolenath figured in 58 cases, while Khadeer was involved in 55 cases at different police stations.

During questioning, the accused confessed to 11 more theft cases. These included five cases under Hyderabad Commissionerate, five under Cyberabad Commissionerate, and one under Rachakonda Commissionerate. Separately, Bolenath also confessed to one theft case registered at Attapur.

With these disclosures, police said Bolenath faced a total of 70 cases. Khadeer faced 66 cases.

Under the supervision of South West Zone DCP G Chandra Mohan and the ACP of Goshamahal Division, Mangalhat police gathered technical evidence and apprehended the accused. Police later produced both men before a court for judicial remand.

Meanwhile, constables Lalith Kumar and Balraj received cash rewards for swift detection of the case and full recovery of the stolen property.
