Hyderabad, January 28: Ganapati, a young man who sustained severe injuries in a fire accident at Tank Bund, has died. The incident occurred on the evening of January 26th during a Republic Day event near People’s Plaza, organized under the supervision of Union Minister Kishan Reddy. As part of the “Bharat Mata Harathi” programme, fireworks were being set off when a boat loaded with pyrotechnics caught fire. Ganapati suffered 80% burns and was admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Reports indicate that Ganapati, along with several others, had traveled from West Godavari district to participate in the event and assist with the fireworks display. During the mishap, another individual went missing. Authorities have been conducting search operations in the Tank Bund area since the night of the incident to locate the missing person. Following a complaint from the missing individual’s family, police initiated an investigation and confirmed that he was present on the boat with Ganapati during the fire. Search efforts are ongoing.
The tragic incident has raised concerns about safety measures during public events, especially those involving fireworks. Authorities are expected to review protocols to prevent such accidents in the future.
