HYDERABAD: A tragic incident unfolded in Karnataka’s Belagavi district, where a 29-year-old man killed a woman for rejecting his marriage proposal and then died by suicide using the same weapon. The incident occurred in Yellur village on March 4.
The accused, Prashant Kundekar, worked as a painter and had been in love with 20-year-old Aishwarya Mahesh Lohar for a year. He had expressed his desire to marry her and even spoke to her mother about it. However, Aishwarya’s mother suggested that he should first become financially stable before considering marriage.
On March 4, Prashant visited Aishwarya’s house and once again proposed marriage. When she refused, he tried to force her to drink poison that he had brought with him. As Aishwarya resisted, Prashant pulled out a knife from his pocket and slit her throat. She succumbed to excessive bleeding and died on the spot.
Following this, Prashant used the same knife to slit his own throat, ending his life at the scene.
Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the house and recovered both bodies. The bodies were sent to a government hospital for postmortem. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
