Major reforms planned in stamps and registration department, says Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is rolling out major reforms in the stamps and registration department to make it transparent, corruption-free, and citizen-friendly, Revenue, Housing and I&PR Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said.

According to the Minister, these reforms align with the vision of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to convert the department into a people-centric public service system rather than a revenue-driven office.

He made these remarks after laying the foundation stone for an Integrated Sub-Registrar Office at Kukatpally in Medchal–Malkajgiri district. He said the government would introduce modern, corporate-style integrated offices in a phased manner.

Integrated sub-registrar offices to come up in phases

In the first phase, the government will develop 39 Sub-Registrar Offices across Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal, and Sangareddy districts. These offices will function as 12 clusters to improve efficiency and accessibility.

Importantly, the Minister said the government would not bear any financial burden for the project. Instead, private builders will construct the offices and maintain them for five years.

After that period, the government will take over the facilities. Meanwhile, the department will focus on service delivery rather than revenue collection alone.

Moreover, the Minister said the reforms aim to protect the lands of poor people and safeguard government properties. He added that officials would act firmly against land encroachments.

At the same time, he assured that the government would ensure fair compensation if authorities ever acquired assigned lands. Finally, he said the reforms would strengthen transparency, improve public trust, and make the stamps and registration department more accountable.
