Hyderabad: A heated exchange broke out in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency on Tuesday when BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha confronted police officials. She accused them of supporting the Congress Party and flouting election rules.
Maganti Sunitha accuses police of bias
Sunitha said police stopped her while she was inspecting polling centres in Borabanda. “They pushed me back and said, ‘so what if you’re an MLA candidate?’” she said. She called the police behaviour a clear act of bias.
The BRS leader alleged that Congress workers and hired men were threatening voters, and police ignored the violations. “Congress fears losing this seat, so its leaders are using threats,” she said.
She also charged that a rowdy-sheeter in Borabanda was intimidating voters with police help. “People hesitate to vote because the police protect such elements,” she said.
Sunitha slams Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka
Sunitha accused Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka of breaking the Model Code of Conduct. She claimed he visited Booth No. 120 in Siddhartha Nagar with a large convoy and said police failed to act against him.
She demanded that the police enforce the rules equally. “Trouble me until the 13th if you wish, but I’ll answer after the 14th,” she warned.
Her confrontation sparked tension in Jubilee Hills, and police increased deployment to keep order.
