Hyderabad: A young woman from Lokeshwaram mandal died by suicide after repeated harassment by a youth in the name of love. The incident occurred in Vatoli village of Nirmal district.
According to police, the victim, identified as Bhoompalli Akhila, was being harassed for several months by Bandolla Naresh, a youth from the same village. When the girl informed her family, they confronted Naresh and warned him to stay away. He stopped for a few days but later resumed the harassment.
Police said the accused allegedly threatened to kill her if she refused his advances. Unable to bear the continued harassment, Akhila consumed pesticide on Sunday evening, November 2. She died soon after.
Based on a complaint from the victim’s mother, Bhoompalli Neela, police registered a case against Naresh. Lokeshwaram Sub-Inspector stated that an investigation is underway into the incident.
