HYDERABAD: In a programme held at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao welcomed Congress leader Shree Ram Reddy from Attapur division into the party under the BRS Joinings initiative. KTR honoured Reddy with the party’s pink scarf in the presence of former minister and MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy and Rajendranagar in-charge P Kartik Reddy.
KTR’s sharp remarks on state politics
KTR accused the Congress party of coming to power in Telangana by making false promises, stating that people had been misled through “420 promises”. He remarked that voters around the Outer Ring Road did not trust Congress, which is why the party suffered heavy losses in those areas.
Targeting the BJP, he said that the party’s win in Goshamahal was merely accidental and alleged a covert alliance between the Congress and the BJP.
HYDRAA, ‘COBRA’ and land-related accusations
KTR criticised the Congress government for demolishing poor people’s houses under the HYDRAA scheme while sparing its own leaders whose homes, he claimed, were located in Full Tank Level and buffer zones. He challenged Congress leaders who accused him of land grabbing to show where his properties are located.
Acknowledgement of contributions by past leaders
KTR praised former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for introducing the Aarogyasri health scheme and acknowledged N. Chandrababu Naidu’s role in developing the IT sector. He said good work deserves recognition, citing how KCR had openly supported continuing Aarogyasri in the Assembly.
Fierce criticism of current Congress government
He accused the Congress administration of awarding Amrut scheme tenders to relatives of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and questioned the silence of the Centre on the matter. Responding to BJP’s rhetoric about Hindus being in danger, he sarcastically said that if true, it was a failure on Modi’s part.
BRS’s 25th anniversary celebrations and upcoming elections
KTR announced that the BRS will celebrate its 25th foundation day with a massive public meeting at Elkaturthy in Warangal on 27 April. He urged party workers, especially from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, to attend in full strength. He also noted that by-elections are expected in Chevella and Rajendranagar constituencies and called for full preparedness.
Call for renewed identity
Emphasising visibility and commitment, KTR said the BRS’s pink flag should be seen on every wall in the constituencies — and where no walls exist, new ones should be built. He declared that the BRS remains the shield of Telangana’s people, always standing by them in times of need.
