KTR slams Congress for delaying panchayat polls, says people will respond

Hyderabad: BRS Working President K Tarakarama Rao on Sunday accused the Congress of fearing defeat in the panchayat and local body elections, saying the ruling party was resorting to undemocratic actions to delay the process.

Taking to social media, KTR criticised the Congress for its failure to implement the six guarantees it had promised during the Telangana Assembly elections. He said the party had also left 420 other assurances unfulfilled, which had eroded public trust. “Had you implemented your six guarantees and 420 promises, people themselves would have voted for you,” he said.

He alleged that instead of honouring its commitments, the Congress was now using pressure tactics and intimidation to avoid facing the electorate in local body polls. KTR warned party leaders that the current political advantage would not last forever.

The senior BRS leader urged Congress functionaries to face elections democratically rather than run away from accountability. He said the party’s fear of grassroots-level polls was a sign of its weakening connect with the people.
