Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao went on the offensive Friday, taking a sharp swipe at the Congress-led Telangana government, latching on to a recent comment from Forest Minister Konda Surekha.
“Congratulations to Konda Surekha garu for finally speaking some truths,” KTR tweeted, accusing the current regime of running a commission sarkaar. He claimed the rot in the government was no longer rumour but an open secret where ministers allegedly don’t sign files without demanding a hefty cut.
The remarks came after a brief controversy over a statement made by Surekha, which many interpreted as an admission that corruption plagued not just the BRS government earlier, but continued under Congress. KTR wasn’t subtle. He pointed to the silent protests held by contractors right inside the Secretariat, claiming they were protesting delays and bribes.
“Even their own colleague minister is saying this. Can Revanth Reddy or Rahul Gandhi initiate a probe?” KTR asked, calling on Surekha to publicly name all ministers allegedly involved.
The twist – Konda Surekha had already clarified her comments were being “twisted”. In a statement, she said her remarks were aimed solely at the previous BRS government, and accused some individuals of deliberate misinterpretation.
“I never said the current ministers are taking money to get work done. I was talking about how things functioned under the previous BRS regime,” she stated.
KTR, however, didn’t appear to buy that explanation. He doubled down, demanding an internal probe by the Congress leadership into allegations coming from within its own Cabinet.
Many congratulations to Minister Konda Surekha garu for finally speaking some truths!
