Hyderabad: Telangana has emerged as a guiding example for India in medical education, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said on Sunday.
Addressing a gathering of MBBS students from Zaheerabad at Telangana Bhavan, KTR highlighted the rapid growth of government medical colleges under the leadership of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and former Health Minister Harish Rao.
KTR praised Harish Rao for transforming healthcare and medical education in the undivided Medak district. He noted that students from diverse backgrounds, including farmers’ daughters, journalists’ children, and auto drivers’ families, were now securing MBBS seats, marking a significant achievement.
He recalled how the state once had only four government medical colleges, which KCR’s government expanded to 34. The BRS leader cited this as proof that Telangana was excelling not only in food grain production but also in producing doctors.

KTR says Telangana minority girls now have better access to education
KTR pointed to the success of minority residential schools, noting that the state had set up 100 such institutions specifically for girls. He said KCR believed every girl child, regardless of caste or religion, deserved an education if provided proper support.
He celebrated the fact that 16 students from Zaheerabad alone had secured MBBS seats, calling it a matter of pride for Telangana. KTR said the joy in parents’ eyes when their children succeed is unparalleled and credited KCR for enabling this transformation.
Calling on the newly enrolled students to support others from poor backgrounds, KTR said, “Light another lamp with your success.” He urged students to carry forward the legacy of Telangana by making their families and state proud.
