KTR meets MANUU students amid row over university land

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao met students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University amid growing tension over the alleged takeover of MANUU land in Gachibowli.

Meanwhile, MANUU students met KTR at his Nandinagar residence in Banjara Hills. There, he welcomed them and listened to their concerns.

The issue surfaced after the Ranga Reddy district collector issued a show-cause notice to the university vice-chancellor. As a result, the development triggered sharp reactions from opposition parties and students.

MANUU land issue triggers student protests

Subsequently, students staged a large protest on Wednesday against the Congress government’s alleged plan. They claimed the government intended to take over 50 acres of MANUU land.

In this context, the students said the move resembled earlier actions involving Central University land in the same area. Therefore, they warned of sustained protests if the government proceeded further.

Additionally, students said the university lacked adequate hostel facilities. As a result, hundreds of poor students faced serious accommodation problems.

According to them, the 50 acres were meant for hostels and other essential infrastructure. However, the absence of on-campus housing continued to cause daily hardship.

Finally, the students discussed these concerns with KTR and sought his support. They urged him to help protect MANUU land and raise the issue politically.
