Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Tuesday met party leader Bitla Balaraju and his wife Ganji Bharathi, who were receiving treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad after an attack in Somarpet village of Ellareddy constituency.
Along with former Ellareddy MLA Jajala Surender, KTR enquired about their health condition. He also spoke to doctors to understand the extent of their injuries.
Later, while speaking to the media, KTR said Bharathi’s condition remained critical. He alleged that Congress workers carried out the attack.
According to doctors, Bharathi suffered pelvic fractures and damage to the urinary bladder. As a result, KTR said she required three surgeries and would need hospital care for at least three weeks.
KTR slams police over attack on BRS leaders
Meanwhile, KTR accused the police of acting in a cruel and irresponsible manner across the state. He said police officials, from the DGP to field-level staff, drew salaries from public funds.
Further, he warned that remaining silent while rowdies attacked people was unacceptable. Therefore, KTR said continued police inaction would force the BRS to respond.
At the same time, he cautioned that retaliation would create serious law-and-order problems. He added that the government alone would bear responsibility for such consequences.
Meanwhile, KTR alleged that the Congress government had allowed attacks on BRS workers over the past two years. As examples, he cited the murder of Mallaiah Yadav in Nalgonda and the kidnapping of a BC candidate in Suryapet.
According to him, people were closely watching these incidents. He added that the public would respond at the right time.
Meanwhile, KTR assured that the BRS would bear the full medical expenses of Bharathi and other injured workers. He also urged party cadres not to lose confidence.
If needed, he said the party would intensify protests. He warned of possible sieges of DGP and SP offices until justice was delivered.
Finally, KTR appealed to the Chief Minister to stop using language that provoked violence against party workers.
