Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao is set to launch statewide field tours from September 10 as the party intensifies preparations for the upcoming local body elections in Telangana. The move marks a renewed campaign push after the party’s defeat in the Assembly polls.
As part of his tour, KTR will visit Bhadradri Kothagudem and Bhadrachalam constituencies on September 10 and 11. On September 13, he will lead a major rally and public meeting in Gadwal town. During the event, KTR is expected to raise issues concerning farmers and demand increased reservations for Backward Classes.
The KTR field tours Telangana initiative comes at a time of internal turbulence within the BRS. The suspension of Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha triggered discontent among sections of the party cadre. Meanwhile, corruption allegations surrounding the Kaleshwaram project, linked to senior leader T. Harish Rao, have further impacted party morale.
Party leaders say the objective of the KTR field tours Telangana campaign is to reconnect with the grassroots and reenergize the party’s organizational machinery. Local leaders have been asked to mobilize support ahead of his visits.
Observers see the tours as an attempt to reclaim lost ground and stabilize the party’s core vote base. KTR’s outreach is expected to focus on rural constituencies where the BRS previously held sway.
The field visits will also test the BRS’s post-election narrative, as it aims to re-establish itself as a serious contender in civic politics. The upcoming public meetings are expected to set the tone for the party’s message in local elections.
