Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday demanded that if the state government makes a PowerPoint presentation in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, the principal Opposition must be granted equal time to respond. This should be in line with democratic norms.
KTR demands equal PPT opportunity for BRS in House
Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said that all MLAs, including the Chief Minister, hold equal legislative rights. “If the government presents its version, the Opposition must also be allowed to present facts,” he asserted.
He noted that the BRS is fully prepared to explain its record on transforming agriculture and irrigation over the past decade. Referring to a similar 2016 presentation by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, he recalled that the Congress had opposed it then as being against parliamentary tradition. “What was unacceptable then — how has it become acceptable now?” he asked.
KTR added that the party has submitted a formal letter to the Speaker demanding equal presentation rights.
He also criticized the Congress government’s handling of irrigation issues. Pointing to alleged failures, he cited the Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel collapse and damage at the Sunkishala project. Furthermore, the submergence of the Vattem pump house was highlighted.
Accusing the government of neglecting the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, KTR questioned whether any additional acreage had received water. He also inquired if any tank or canal had been revived under the new regime.
He concluded by reiterating BRS’s call for fair opportunity to present its position in the Assembly.
