HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has expressed concern over the drying up of ponds in Telangana, attributing it to the current Congress government’s policies. In his latest tweet, KTR contrasted the present situation with the previous administration’s efforts to support agriculture.
Drying Ponds and Agricultural Challenges
KTR highlighted that ponds, which once remained full even during summers, are now drying up due to the Congress government’s negligence. He emphasized that during the BRS administration, canals were filled with water, enabling farmers to cultivate two crops annually. In contrast, he accused the current government of neglecting projects, releasing water to neighboring states, and causing crops to wither.
Support for Farmers Under BRS Administration
KTR recalled that during the BRS rule, farmers received timely support through initiatives like Rythu Bandhu, 24-hour free electricity, irrigation facilities, seeds, fertilizers, and assured crop procurement. This comprehensive support system ensured farmers could sleep peacefully and live contentedly.
Criticism of Congress Governance
In his tweet, KTR criticized the 15-month Congress rule, stating that farmers now lack assurance of support, face water shortages, power cuts, scarcity of seeds and fertilizers, and uncertainty in crop procurement. He alleged that agriculture is regressing across the state, from Alampur to Adilabad and from Aswaraopeta to Zaheerabad, under the current administration. KTR concluded by accusing the Congress government of bringing drought to Telangana.
