KTR blames urea crisis on incompetent leadership in Telangana

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday accused the Congress government of incompetence, holding it responsible for the urea shortage affecting farmers across Telangana.

He said the rulers had pushed farmers to desperation and claimed their downfall had already begun. “Farmers are in tears today because of leaders who know nothing about governance,” KTR said. He added that people now understood the difference between the current regime and KCR’s leadership.

KTR accused the Congress of indulging in “petty politics” and ignoring the needs of farmers. He described KCR as “the personification of a hundred-year vision.” According to him, the former chief minister ensured timely supply of urea through detailed planning.

Explaining further, KTR recalled that KCR held regular meetings with agriculture officials and submitted advance requisitions to the Centre. He also dispatched state teams to ports in Andhra Pradesh to monitor shipments. Moreover, KCR personally requested South Central Railway for special trains to transport urea.

In addition, KTR said KCR coordinated with neighbouring states to arrange up to 4,000 trucks when necessary. He stressed that urea was sent directly from ports to mandals and then supplied in villages. This system, he said, prevented any shortages.

By contrast, KTR argued, the current government’s lack of foresight and efficiency has created the present crisis.
