Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress government of planning a scam through the Musi river project. He made the remarks after inspecting riverfront works at Nagole on Thursday.
KTR visited the site along with BRS leaders and reviewed the development works taken up earlier along the river.
He said the previous BRS government focused on cleaning sewage and restoring the ecosystem. The government also prepared a ₹4,000-crore plan for the Nagole Sewage Treatment Plant.
According to him, the project would become the largest STP facility in the country.
KTR targets Congress over Musi River project
KTR said the earlier government developed the Musi River without demolishing houses or displacing residents.
He said the government completed nearly 85 per cent of the STP works by December 2023. The KCR government also sanctioned 15 bridges across the river.
KTR urged the present government to complete the pending works. However, he alleged that the Congress government increased the project cost from ₹16,000 crore to ₹1.5 lakh crore.
He claimed the decision could lead to a major scam.
KTR also criticised demolitions under the HYDRAA initiative in Hyderabad. He questioned whether the government would act against houses located in buffer zones.
He said the government was creating fear among residents living along the Musi River.
KTR challenged the government to complete the beautification works. He said BRS could finish the Musi River project if given the opportunity.
